For as long as I can remember I have drawn. As a child I would prefer my pencils and paper over any toy or activity, instead of Barbies I had boxes upon boxes of stationary & different types of paper (not much has changed!) Equal to my beloved pencils was my love of animals, growing up with a variety of pets and wildlife meant it was only a matter of time before my favourite things fused together.

Starting with graphite pencil, I spent hours upon hours studying animals and changing a blank piece of paper in my sketchbook into something I was proud of. It was never something I shared, I drew just for me.

Balancing a career with having my son meant I had little time for my hobby and it became something I’d do every now and then. Then a couple of years ago when my son was in his late teens and had become more independent, I found myself at a loose end one evening and felt inspired to draw. I got out some coloured pencils and A3 paper and produced a pretty realistic looking giraffe.  From that moment on I had the bug and I found that I was drawing again at any given opportunity.

As I started to take my art more seriously, I researched and tested a variety of paper and pencils and I now  have a large collection of high quality professional materials.

The first time my friends and family saw my artwork was when I gifted my friend a coloured pencil drawing of her dog Jack and it was shared on social media. I haven’t looked back since and have continued to specialise in coloured pencil animal portraits.

Recently I have expanded my skill set to include pastels and I really can’t choose between the two so I offer both.

I genuinely love what I do and with each pencil stroke I become immersed in capturing the personality of each animal. Each commission is a huge honour, being able to deliver something personal and unique is truly incomparable.
